Seal is an ideal base for touring and/or walking. It is very conveniently located for the M20/M26/M25 and Gatwick airport.

We are only about an hour away from the Channel ports (even less from the Channel Tunnel) so we make a perfect first stop for travellers from the Continent.

Add to this the fact that Sevenoaks is only 31 minutes by train from central London and you can understand why so many people choose to stay here, thereby avoiding the high cost of hotels in London.

But our convenient location is just the beginning. Situated in some of England's most beautiful countryside, Sevenoaks provides a wealth of leisure opportunities.

From historic castles, beautiful gardens, vineyards, picturesque villages and the largest shopping centre within Europe (at Bluewater) to sporting facilities among the best in Britain, Sevenoaks superbly caters for all interests.

Where else can you follow in the footsteps of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII (at Hever Castle) and Winston Churchill (at Chartwell), enjoy a round of golf on a championship standard course and meander through the grounds of some of the most beautifully preserved stately homes (at Knole House and Park, Ightham Mote and other National Trust properties in the area)? And all within convenient distances of each other.

And then there are the village pubs with all the different English beers. Two of these which have become favourites of ours are the Bucks Head at Godden Green, and The Chequers at Heaverham, both just 2 miles or 3 km from our house.

The village of Seal itself (detailed map) is just 3 miles or 5km from Sevenoaks. It has an old church, a few local shops, three pubs and two restaurants (a Chinese and an Indian - both good), plus a takeaway kebab and pizza restaurant. All of them are on the High Street (see map) and within a ten minute walk of our house and so drivers do not have to worry about drinking and driving!
